DiagnoDent - Laser Decay Detection
As with many other diseases, early detection of
tooth decay makes its treatment much easier. Decay usually starts with a very
small hole in the enamel (hard outer surface of the tooth). The decay can
quickly spread and enlarge in the softer tooth structure found below the enamel.
The hole in the enamel frequently remains very small, while the cavity
underneath is growing larger. The small hole may be very difficult to see in a
visual examination, and frequently is too small for the “explorer instrument” we
use to “stick”. Since the decay grows much quicker in the softer inside of the
tooth, than in th If we can detect and repair the decay when it is very small, then it is usually a very quick and simple procedure, involving no anesthetic, no discomfort and very little loss of tooth structure. The DiagnoDent allows us to detect this decay before it becomes visible to our eyes or in x-rays. A tiny laser light is used to scan your teeth for signs of hidden decay. This new technology is completely safe and pain free.
More and more patients place value on healthy and attractive teeth. In order to maintain them, the earliest possible care is essential. The Diagnodent uses a ecay in the grooves of teeth can be detected before visible in x-rays or to the human eye. When decay is found this early, it can be usually be easily treated without any discomfort and without the need to use any anesthetics. l |
